FS Skills Commission Chief Executive honoured in the 2021 Timewise Power List

Claire Tunley, CEO of the Financial Services Skills Commission has been included in the 2021 Power List: a roll call of 25 of the most successful senior-level executives in the UK, who achieve everything they do – whilst working part-time.

The Timewise Power List is compiled annually by social consultancy Timewise and aims to inspire employers across the country with stellar examples of how flexible working can and should work – by providing trailblazing role models.  Co-founders Karen Mattison MBE and Emma Stewart MBE started the initiative in 2012 to ‘change the conversation to what’s possible’ when you work part -time.

Commenting on the announcement, Claire Tunley, Chief Executive, Financial Services Skills Commission said:

“I’m delighted to be included in the 2021 Timewise Power List, recognising how UK senior-level executives can successfully work part-time. The pandemic has clearly shown the huge value of working flexibly and I hope this announcement encourages more businesses across UK to adopt innovative working practices for senior roles whilst continuing to develop skills, career pathways and diversity of talent.”

Timewise co-founder and judge Karen Mattison MBE, said “For so long we have seen an apology before the term part-time: ‘I’m just part time’, ‘I’m only part-time’ and so on. 3 in 4 people in the UK now believe people who work part-time should be able to progress in their careers – without losing their flex. In the year that proved people can work differently – this is taking ‘different’ to the next level. Now it is time for employers to reflect this shift, in how they design and advertise jobs’.

Timewise conducted the nationwide call to action for nominations between July & November last year, calling upon the public to nominate inspirational individuals they knew, who work part-time / flexibly at senior levels. The Timewise Co-founders led the judging panel which included:

SALLY BUNDOCK, News Presenter and Financial Journalist, BBC

LAURA SAWYER, Head of Talent Engagement Europe, Diageo

LYNN RATTIGAN, Chief Operating Officer in the UK & Ireland, EY

TRACEY GILBERT, UK and Ireland Leader IBM iX and Enterprise Strategy, IBM UK

SOPHIE CORNISH, Co-founder, notonthehighstreet
